TRANSPORTATION TOMORROW [SOLD OUT]
By Jean-Marie Tarascon, Spencer Low & Alan Chan
Friday 26 May 07:00 pm
1 Sarkies Road SGP 258130 , Alliance Française de Singapour
About the talk
Transportation is essential to us today. The proof of its importance is that transport produces more than 25% of our CO2 emissions today (in France), contributing significantly to global warming. It is, therefore urgent to move from a model based on oil and gasoline to a model based on low-carbon energies that are much more environmentally friendly.
We hear more and more about electric vehicles or autonomous cars. But what about their technological reality? Will we see cars driven by artificial intelligence (or AI) within five years or only within 20 years? Similarly, for electric vehicles, what energy sources will be used to power the entire fleet? Will the electrical grid be able to keep up with demand? Will there be enough materials to produce and equip the vehicles of tomorrow? What role will recycling play?
Talk held by Professor Jean-Marie Tarascon from the Collège de France, part of the “Sustainable Development, Energy and Society” programme, Spencer Low, Chief Data and Sustainability Officer at SATS, Singapore Airport Terminal Services and Alan Chan, Chairman of the Land Transport Authority (Singapore).
The talk will be moderated by formerMaritime and Port Authority of Singapore Chief Executive Ley Hoon Quah.
