Your Voice. Your Story. Your Spotlight.

Inspired by the acclaimed French competition Si on lisait à voix haute, Voix en scène transforms reading into a vibrant stage experience where every voice can shine. Whether you are passionate about books, dream of performing, or simply want to develop your confidence speaking French, this is your moment to take the spotlight.

Organised by Alliance Française de Singapour, Voix en scène is a French read-aloud competition for young people aged 11 to 18.

Participants are invited to choose an excerpt from a favourite French book and record themselves reading it aloud with expression, emotion, and personality. Reading aloud is an art: it is about captivating an audience, conveying meaning, and bringing a text to life through your voice.

Selected participants will be invited to perform before a jury in the contest final.

Contest Snapshot

Who: Teens aged 11 to 18 (Alliance Française members & Franco students)

What: Record an expressive read-aloud performance of an excerpt from a French book (1 min 30 sec to max 2 min video)

Submission: Send in your video entry by 1 November. Grand Finale: Present before judges in January

Reading aloud is about much more than simply saying words. It is about bringing a text to life, sharing an emotion and inspiring others to read.

• Take the stage: Get the chance win prizes and perform live on stage!

More than just a contest, Voix en scène is an invitation to take the time to choose a text, make it your own, share it and perhaps inspire someone else to pick up a book.

The competitions is open to young speakers aged 11 to 18 years old, who are:
• Member of Alliance Fran ç aise de Singapour
• Students enrolled in the Francos programme (Middle School & Hight School / Coll è ge & Lyc é e) up to 18 years old. 

Parental authorisation: All participants under 18 much submit a signed parental consent and image rights release form. 

Safety & Privacy: Submissions will only be reviewed privately by the Alliance Française jury and will only be shared in accordance with parental permission.

Frame yourself well: Frame your shoot from the waist or chest up so the jury can see your face and posture. 
 Eye contact:  Glance up from the book to connect with your audience. 
 Pacing is key:  Don't rush! Breathing and dramatic pauses make the story come alive. 
 Clear audio:  Choose a quiet stop away from background noise and echo .

Step 1:  Choose your book
Pick an excerpt from any work written in French (novel, short story, graphic novel adaptation, poetry, classic, or contemporary literature). Choose a passage that resonates with you!  
 Step 2 : Bring it to life
Work on your pronunciation, pacing, pauses, and expression. You don't need to act out a play, focus on letting your voice carry the emotion of the text. 
 Step 3:  Record your video
 Duration: Between 1 minute 30 seconds and a maximum of 2 minutes. Setup: Place your phone or camera horizontally at eye level in a quiet, well-lit room. Ensure your voice is loud and clear. Upload your video to any hosting platform of your choice.
Step 4:  Submit by November 1st
 Complete the online registration form, include the link to your video, and the parental consent and image release form before 1 November at 11:59 PM.
