Paris, 1928. Celebrated young painter Antoine Balestro has lost his inspiration following the death of his wife. One drunken evening, he seeks out a psychic to contact her, unaware that the woman answering him is Suzanne, a carnival worker who has slipped into the caravan to steal food. Encouraged by Antoine’s gallery owner, Suzanne continues the deception, helping the painter rediscover his creativity. But as she falls in love with him, their elaborate illusion becomes increasingly difficult to sustain.
