Paul Bernardin disappeared after killing his wife and children. Where did he disappear to? The horror of his deed and speculation as to Bernardin's whereabouts stir the French, including Christine and Léa, two amateur investigators, who travel to the scene of the heinous crime. They questioned the concierge of the Bernardin building, then rummaged around in her apartment. But then news arrives that the criminal has been arrested at Copenhagen airport...
Plastic Guns, which closed the 2024 Quinzaine des Cinéastes at the Cannes Film Festival, captivates with its macabre humor and bold storytelling. Inspired by true events, it follows unusual characters entangled in a criminal investigation. The lively performances, especially by investigators Léa and Christine, add a refreshing touch, while the satire on male characters is brilliantly executed. This film invites viewers to reflect on the ambiguity of morbid admiration for crime and its perpetrator.
