“A gripping and effective nuclear thriller.”
CINEUROPA

Newly elected French president Paul Archambault faces an unprecedented crisis when an assassination attempt against his Russian counterpart triggers a nuclear ultimatum threatening one of France’s allies. As the risk of military escalation grows, he gathers his senior advisers and military chiefs in the bunker beneath the Élysée Palace. Inside the secret Jupiter command post, competing strategies and mounting pressure force him towards a decision with potentially devastating consequences.

Jupiter is a tense political thriller exploring the burden of power and the human uncertainty behind decisions that could change the world. In his debut feature, director Alexandre Smia confines the action to the corridors of France’s nuclear command centre, where words carry as much weight as weapons. Starring Denis Ménochet, André Dussollier and Reda Kateb, alongside Dominique Blanc, Céline Sallette and Ella Rumpf, the film was presented Out of Competition at the 2026 Venice Film Festival. A gripping journey into the machinery of state, where responsibility rests on one man’s shoulders.
