Words have the power to astonish us, through their spelling, pronunciation and layers of nuances in their meaning. Have fun discovering these 10 words whose meanings illustrate the physical and psychological manifestations of stupefaction.
Kaï : Aiyah [Also “wah lau eh” in colloquial speech in Singapore 😊]
Farcer : To play a prank
Divulgâcher : To divulge
Tintamarre : Hullabaloo
Pince-moi : Pinch me
Saperlipopette : Holy cow
Médusé : Thunderstruck

Époustouflant : Breathtaking

In conjunction with Francophonie Festival 2022, participate in a story writing competition, and stand a chance to win great prizes (Free French class, subscription to a French magazine from Bayard Press, book vouchers from a local bookstore, French books...)
Write a short story:
• on the theme of Stupefaction,
• in less than 50 words,
• in either French or English,
• include three or more of the above ten words.
