About the workshop
Discover the Revolutionary Women of Champagne!
In 17th and 18th-century France, women were often seen as property of their fathers or husbands, their ambitions stifled by societal norms. But in Champagne, a unique phenomenon unfolded. When widowed, women like Veuve Clicquot, Veuve Pommery, and Veuve Henriot broke free from these constraints, taking the reins of their family businesses and revolutionizing the wine world. These trailblazing widows not only built champagne empires but redefined what women could achieve in a male-dominated society.
Their success was so profound that the term veuve became a marketing ploy, with male-run champagne houses adopting it to mimic their prestige and sell more bottles. Join us as we delve into the remarkable stories of these women who turned personal loss into sparkling success, shaping the legacy of Champagne forever.
Guests will enjoy learning the secrets of the méthode champenoise, discover how grape varieties ageing and sugar can affect your preferences, and of course enjoy three glasses of champagne.
