Le Chant des Forêts

Director: Vincent Munier
Cast: Vincent Munier, Michel Munier et Simon Munier
Rating:
« The magnificent journey of Vincent Munier through his native Vosges. » Télérama
After The Velvet Queen (La Panthère des neiges), Vincent Munier invites us into the heart of the Vosges forests. It is here that he learned everything from his father, Michel, a naturalist who spent his life patiently observing wildlife from hidden blinds deep in the woods. Now, the time has come for them to pass this knowledge on to Simon, Vincent’s son. Three perspectives, three generations, united by the same fascination with the wild. Together, we will encounter red deer, rare birds, foxes, and lynx... and, if fortune smiles upon us, catch the beating wings of a legendary creature: the Western Capercaillie.
Le Chant des forêts confirms Vincent Munier as one of today’s most distinctive documentary filmmakers. The film became a remarkable box-office hit, drawing nearly 1.3 million admissions in France and winning the 2026 César Award for Best Documentary, alongside the César for Best Sound. Celebrated for its breathtaking cinematography, immersive sound design, and moving story of intergenerational transmission, Le Chant des forêts has been widely praised as one of the finest nature documentaries of recent years.
