LE PARISIEN
It all begins on the day Tonio, the son of the King of the Bears, is kidnapped by hunters in the mountains of Sicily. Taking advantage of a harsh winter that threatens his people with famine, the King decides to invade the plains where humans live. With the help of his army and a magician, he succeeds in defeating the humans and eventually reunites with Tonio. But he soon realizes that the bear people are not meant to live in the world of men.
The Bears’ Famous Invasion of Sicily is a beautifully crafted animated gem, celebrated for its distinctive hand-drawn style and rich visual imagination. Premiering in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, the film was also nominated for the Cristal for Best Feature at Annecy International Animated Festival and for the César Award for Best Animated Film. Lorenzo Mattotti transforms Dino Buzzati’s classic tale into a magical, heartfelt adventure that captivates both children and adults alike.
