As part of the French Film Festival, Alliance Française de Singapour invites audiences to celebrate the richness and diversity of French cinema. Bringing together fresh perspectives, memorable characters and a variety of genres, the festival opens a window onto French culture while encouraging discovery, dialogue and shared experiences through film.

Sometimes love returns in the most unexpected form. Delicacy (La Délicatesse) follows Nathalie, played by Audrey Tautou, as an unlikely romance with a colleague gently awakens her desire for life after the loss of her husband. Tender and quietly humorous, David and Stéphane Foenkinos’s film explores grief and the possibility of loving again.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with David Foenkinos, co-director and author of the novel that inspired the film.

“As light as a stolen kiss.”
20 MINUTES

After the sudden death of her husband, Nathalie retreats into her work, putting her emotional life on hold. Three years later, an impulsive kiss with Markus, a shy and unassuming Swedish colleague, opens the door to an unexpected romance. Their unlikely connection puzzles those around them, but his kindness and quiet humour gradually help Nathalie rediscover the possibility of happiness. Together, they must find the courage to embrace a love that neither had anticipated.

Delicacy (La Délicatesse) is a tender romantic comedy-drama about grief, second chances and the unexpected paths that lead us back to life. Adapted from David Foenkinos’s bestselling novel and directed by David and Stéphane Foenkinos, the film stars Audrey Tautou, François Damiens and Bruno Todeschini. Blending gentle humour with moments of melancholy, it celebrates a connection that grows through small gestures, patience and understanding.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with author and co-director David Foenkinos.
