History of Champagne through Art!

With Lucy Edwards, seasoned champagne connoisseur, participants will delve into the fascinating history of champagne through the lens of art. This masterclass offers a unique exploration of how art has depicted and influenced the evolution of champagne, from the first bubbles before Dom Pérignon to the champagne towers of Salvador Dali.
Guests will enjoy learn the secrets of the méthode champenoise, discover how grape varieties ageing and sugar can affect your preferences, and of course enjoy three glasses of Barbier-Louvet champagne.

Your host - Lucy Edwards

Lucy has worked in the wine industry since 2009 and is a self-confessed champagne enthusiast. Her passion for champagne grew while helping grower-producers import to Australia through the French Chamber of Commerce. She is drawn to the blend of art, science, and tradition behind champagne-making, as well as the hospitality of the Champagne region.

Over the past decade, Lucy has consulted for houses like Jacquart, Pertois-Lebrun, and Charpentier, and played a key role in developing Vranken-Pommery Monopole in Australia and Southeast Asia. She also founded Emperor Champagne Club in Singapore and has deep expertise in wine, particularly champagne.

Founded in 2019, Cuturi Gallery is a contemporary art gallery based in Singapore with a strong focus on emerging Singaporean talents, many of whom form the core of the gallery ’s roster. While rooted in its local context, Cuturi Gallery also actively collaborates with emerging and established artists across borders, extending its vision beyond Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific, fostering meaningful exchanges that bridge cultural perspectives between the East and the West. This ongoing dialogue is central to the gallery ’s mission.
In 2020, the gallery launched an in-house residency programme, offering both local and international artists the opportunity to develop new work in Singapore, culminating in a solo presentation. In 2022, Cuturi Gallery began a programme of satellite exhibitions in London, with plans to establish a permanent international outpost by the end of 2026.
In March of 2026, the gallery opened a Parisian space in the heart of the PalaisRoyal, strenghtening its international position and its ambition to foster dialogue between the Asian and European artists it represents, as well as curators and transnational audiences
