As part of the French Film Festival, Alliance Française de Singapour invites audiences to celebrate the richness and diversity of French cinema. Bringing together fresh perspectives, memorable characters and a variety of genres, the festival opens a window onto French culture while encouraging discovery, dialogue and shared experiences through film.
Care, courage and solidarity take centre stage in A Place for Her (La Maison des femmes), Mélisa Godet’s moving drama about a dedicated team helping women rebuild their lives after violence. Through daily struggles and small victories, the film celebrates those who listen, support and fight to keep a vital place of refuge open.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with representatives from organisations defending women’s rights and supporting women in need, offering an opportunity to discuss the film’s themes and their work.

At the Maison des femmes, a dedicated team provides care, support and a safe space for women rebuilding their lives after violence. Diane, Manon, Inès and Awa listen, treat and help their patients regain confidence, while confronting the pressures of demanding work and limited resources. Between difficult decisions, moments of humour and small victories, their shared commitment keeps hope alive.
A Place for Her (La Maison des femmes) is a moving ensemble drama about solidarity, resilience and the everyday courage of those who care for others. In her debut feature, director Mélisa Godet draws inspiration from the real Maison des femmes in Saint-Denis, founded by Dr Ghada Hatem, to portray the people behind this essential work. Starring Karin Viard, Laetitia Dosch, Eye Haïdara and Oulaya Amamra, the film brings warmth and humanity to a story of women helping one another reclaim their lives.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with organisations supporting women and defending women’s rights.
