Constellation of a present future: Photographs of Singapore (English title)

This book presents images by Ng Shi Wen in dialogue with other artworks that have also looked beyond the phantasmagoria of the (post-) modern world. Step by step, a map of the sky created with constellations of correspondences at different aesthetic and political levels appears. The result is to chart visually and intellectually the efforts by artists like our photographer to uncover the real behind the artifice, and to cherish the human that persists despite all odds.

Moderated by Gerard Sasges, who co-wrote the introduction, this book is also an extension of the Hard at Work Singapore project by Gerard and his students at the National University of Singapore.

About the photographer

Ng Shi Wen is a photographer, educator and chronicler of everyday life. She is the founder of Photo Rikki and has taught at the National University of Singapore and School of the Arts, Singapore.
