Benoît Duchâteau-Arminjon, a.k.a. Bénito discovered the horror of the Cambodian civil war when he visited a refugee camp on the country’s border with Thailand and experiences a profound emotional shock. He decides to put his promising career as a financial controller on hold and spend a year setting up a welfare center for abandoned children.

Since then, he has devoted most of his life to these children through the foundation he established in 1991—Krousar Thmey—or “new family.” A talented manager, Bénito set up a well-run organization, a constellation of small enters or schools, fully integrated into their Cambodian environment.  From 2000 onwards, he gradually turned its operation over to Cambodians. As of 2017, a staff of 270 is supporting some 2,500 children in welfare centers for street children, family shelters, and schools for blind or deaf children. In this context, Khmer Braille and Khmer Sign Language were developed, for the first time allowing children with these disabilities to get an education.

After the projection of the Pepites, a film about the couple Des Pallières for whom Benito has a real admiration, he will answer your questions and share his reflections on this humanitarian world.

Touted as the “future of French rock”, La Femme is one of the most captivating frontrunners from the French musical landscape.
Inspired by a love of retro sounds through The Velvet Underground and Kraftwerk, La Femme has emerged with a genre of its own where surf-rock meets 80s new wave and 60s pop. The band regularly takes over the charts and makes headlines of the likes of NME.
In 2014, La Femme won a Victoires de la Musique. Two years later the band was invited by legendary rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers as their supporting act.
La Femme will come to defend their second opus “Mystère” at Scape The Ground Theatre.

Axelle Red has been flowing her red hair and no less ardent personality on the world’s stages for twenty years. Her many top-of-the-charts singles, such as Sensualité, Ma prière, Rester femme and her duo with Renaud, Manhattan-Kaboul, all left a mark in people’s heart.

Axelle Red and her musicians come to Asia eager to share vibes of immoderate love for music and life. Her « Acoustic Asian tour » presents songs from the Acoustic album. Axelle Red’s « Maked » hits are stripped to their essence, leaving her songwriter’s skills to shine. While she beautifully surprises her fanbase and entices many more to discover her repertory, the singer’s warm and slightly rough voice undoubtedly remains her core seductive power.

All the persons attending the concert are cordially invited to the cocktail reception after the show.

“Les Triplés” are the most cherished children of the French comic books world. They were created by Nicole Lambert, an illustrator and keen observer of children.

Since 1984, they have been published every week in the French magazine Madame Figaro. They have been the subject matter of more than 30 comic strip albums, sold over one and a half million copies and have also been adapted as an animated series for TV.

The exhibition 33 Years with ‘’Les Triplés’’ celebrates the comic and its creator: vivid colours, beautiful outfits, mild humor and a very Parisian je ne sais quoi are the main ingredients of the Triplets’ endearing and witty story.

This exhibition discloses the intimate stories of two artists, a painter and a ceramist, through their singular creations. Their artworks speak of those landscapes that they were forced to leave, of those they have discovered and those that are being built. Their particular use of fire, as an element of creation, reflects both scars and the artists’ positive extents.
Hanibal Srouji burns his paintings with a blowtorch, leaving the traces of burning and holes marking the canvass. Tania Nasr invites us to discover her personal landscapes through works relating to stories of migrations, mixed soils and lands of various colors.

Peaks Speak, a major solo exhibition comprising 40 recent artworks by artist Laure Hatchuel-Becker is showing at Art Porters from March 2 to April 23, 2017. The works all display Laure’s extraordinary technique of colourful oil peaks of colour on canvas, inspired by Australian aboriginal art.

Peaks Speak Laure Hatchuel-Becker has created a new language – one of sophisticated elegance, precise beauty, crafted mountains of rich oil colours, mesmerizing and precise landscapes of thousands of sculptures. Each of these myriads of sculptures is a miniature geological formation, perfectly pointed and shining under the gallery light. The viewer is drawn to a close inspection of each peak, better seen from the side of the painting. One would want to be a fly on the wall and yet move further away and take the breathtaking beauty particularly of the animal compositions, with their subtle and respectful references to many masters of art history. In front of the artworks, one wants to engage in a tribal dance, intense and strictly choreographed. Navigating from close up in a magical helicopter above the peaks, then moving further away one can fully admire Laure Hatchuel-Becker’s carefully controlled craft and meditative prowess.
