Alliance Française de Singapour is proud to present OCEAN, our new French Excellence Programme running from 30 May to 30 August.

A key highlight of this programme is OCEAN: DIVING INTO THE UNKNOWN, an immersive exhibition designed and produced by the French National Museum of Natural History, that not only celebrates the beauty and complexity of ocean life but also raises awareness about the urgent challenges facing our marine ecosystems today.

Beyond the exhibition, OCEAN invites you to a variety of events that celebrate the oceans in all their beauty and complexity. Designed to educate, inspire, and spark curiosity, this programme brings together exhibitions, screenings, artistic workshops, live performances and more!

EXHIBITION |  ocean: diving into the unknown


Alliance Française is thrilled to present OCEAN: DIVING INTO THE UNKNOWN, a breathtaking exhibition part of our French Excellence Programme, designed and produced by the French National Museum of Natural History. 

From legendary sea creatures that inspired the works of French authors like Jules Verne to the pioneering explorers who revealed the secrets of the deep, OCEAN offers a rare glimpse into France’s rich maritime heritage and its deep ties to literature, art and environmental science.

EXHIBITION |  ocean grace


Experience the beauty of the ocean through the lens of Phoctopus, a talented duo composed by photographer Olivier Jude and diver-model Sylvie Laurent. In partnership with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, this exhibition showcases stunning, unretouched underwater photography that celebrates the harmony between humanity and nature. All proceeds from the artwork sales will support the 100K Corals Initiative, a dedicated effort to restore coral reef health and safeguard marine biodiversity for future generations.

Join us for an English-French bilingual storytelling and talk by Courtney Kelly - an accomplished construction management professional and self-published children’s book author from New Orleans.

MUSICAL STORYTELLING |  ocean COMMOTION!


Dive into a magical 60-min storytelling adventure with master storyteller Roger Jenkins, joined by Justine Devisse Mezrani and two musicians from Our Music School. The performance features three ocean-themed stories that will delight audiences of all ages. Enjoy Japanese tales like The Little Crab and Urashima Taro, plus the interactive, fun-filled Surf War from the Marshall Islands. Heartwarming stories that celebrate kindness, respect, and the power of even the smallest among us to make a difference.

STORYTELLING |  The old man and the sea


Join us for a powerful journey into Hemingway’s timeless tale ''The old man and the sea'', told by French theatre artist Mathilde Bagein. Through selected excerpts, we’ll follow Santiago, an old fisherman, as he sails into the deep, chasing a marlin, and something even deeper: meaning, pride, and a connection to the sea. Come listen, reflect, and be carried by the rhythm of the ocean!

LIVE PERFORMANCE |  REFLECTIONS IN BLUE


Join us for a unique, multidisciplinary performance where jazz, dance, and poetry flow like water. Led by award-winning drummer Neill Gautier and featuring Eric Tinsay Valles, director of Poetry Festival Singapore, this spontaneous collaboration brings together Singaporean, French, and European artists. Experience an immersive blend of jazz, movement, and spoken words that traces water’s journey from earth to sky. A sensory exploration that invites reflection on our deep connection to nature.

Dive into a fresh, modern take on an old-school technique in this vibrant art workshop inspired by the ocean. Using pointillism, a method made famous by artists like Georges Seurat, you’ll explore how tiny dots of color can come together to form stunning sea-inspired imagery. A chill and hands-on session where you’ll play with color, rhythm, and flow to craft your own contemporary seascape.
