Normandy, 1819. Jeanne Le Perthuis de Vauds just ended her studies at the convent. Idealist, naive and full of childish dreams, she marries Julien de Lamare. But little by little, her husband reveals himself selfish, miserly and unfaithful. He cheats on her with Rosalie, the housemaid, then with Gilberte, a neighbour. She will experience the harsh realities of a woman’s life in the 19th century.
Based on the novel Une vie by Guy de Maupassant.
