This exhibition presents works by photographers all around the world, shortlisted from the 7th International Photography Competition by Fondation Alliance Française.

Dressing up can be a way of expressing our identity, taste or heritage. It plays a big role as we navigate our identity within a socio-cultural context. By dressing to fit in, we feel a sense of belonging and by dressing to stand out, we feel a sense of individuality. Our fashion and dress codes connote meanings and significance that go beyond skin-deep.

As seen in how distinctive the way people around the world adorn themselves, fashion truly embodies the richness of cultures, creativity and beyond that, the diversity of the world.

“Fashion conveys a great diversity of meanings that transcends the trends we see in boutiques, luxury brands and on media.”

Françoise Huguier, Agence VU, French photographer, President of the Jury at the International Photography Competition, 2017.
